The things people ask first.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free version is a complete diary with encryption, five themes, photos, moods, prompts, templates, search and export. It does not expire and it shows no ads. Pro is an upgrade, not an unlock of things you already needed.
Where is my diary kept?
On your phone, encrypted with AES 256 and a key derived from your passcode. There is no account and no copy of your writing on our side. If you switch on Google Drive backup, the copy that goes there is encrypted before it leaves the device, so it is unreadable to us and to anyone else.
What happens when I change phone?
Turn on encrypted backup before you move, then restore on the new phone with your 12 word recovery phrase. If you would rather not use backup at all, export your diary as a file and keep it wherever you keep things that matter.
Can I get my writing out again?
Always. Export the whole diary as PDF for reading, Markdown for editing anywhere, or JSON if you want the raw structure. No subscription is needed to take your own words with you.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Kindiary is an Android app on Google Play today, and we would rather say that plainly than promise a date we cannot keep.
Is talk to your diary an AI chatbot?
No. It runs on your phone, it is not a language model, and it writes nothing. It reads the entries you have already written and points you to the days that answer your question.
Will it nag me?
Only if you ask it to. You can set one daily reminder at a time you choose, and turn it off whenever you like. There are no streaks, no scores, and no messages about falling behind.
