Privacy Policy – Kindiary

1) What Kindiary does

Kindiary is a private diary app for writing daily entries, capturing mood, and adding optional photos or voice notes. It is designed so your entries stay on your device by default and remain unreadable to us.

2) No account required

Kindiary does not require account creation to use. You can install the app and start writing without giving us any personal information.

3) Data we process (summary)

Depending on how you use the app and which features you enable, the app may process:

A) Diary content (on your device)

The text, photos, and voice notes you record are stored locally on your device and encrypted at rest.
We do not have access to your diary content. It is unreadable to us by design.

B) Optional cloud backup

If you choose to enable cloud backup, your encrypted diary is stored in your personal cloud account and restored or synced between your own devices.
On Android, this uses Google Drive through your Google account. On iOS (coming later), this will use iCloud through your Apple ID.
Google's and Apple's standard protections apply to data stored in their respective services. We do not have access to your Google Drive or iCloud.

C) App usage & diagnostics

With your permission, the app may send anonymous crash reports and basic usage counts (e.g. "the app launched", "an entry was saved") to help us improve stability and fix bugs.
These never contain the contents of your diary. You can turn diagnostics off at any time in Settings.

D) Support correspondence

If you email us for support, we will have your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use that only to reply to you.

4) How we use data

We use data to:

Provide app functionality (e.g. displaying your entries on your device).
Back up or sync your encrypted diary between your own devices, if you enable cloud backup (Google Drive on Android, iCloud on iOS).
Improve reliability and performance through anonymous diagnostics.
Respond to your support requests.

5) Sharing of data

We do not sell your data, and we do not share diary content with anyone. We may share limited operational data with service providers that help run the app, such as anonymous crash reporting. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies, and they never receive the contents of your diary.

6) Children's privacy

Kindiary is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ancient-sky [@] cogito-consultancy[.]com and we will address it.

7) Your choices

Cloud backup: You can enable or disable cloud backup (Google Drive on Android, iCloud on iOS) at any time in the app's settings.
Diagnostics: You can turn anonymous diagnostics on or off at any time in the app's settings.
Export: You can export your entire diary as PDF or plain text whenever you like.
Uninstall: You can remove the app at any time. Removing the app deletes the local diary on that device.

8) Data retention

We keep operational data only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Because we do not run our own accounts and do not store diary content on our servers, we generally do not have user identifiable diary data to delete beyond what third-party providers retain under their policies.

9) Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information processed by the app, including on-device encryption of diary content and TLS for any data sent over the network. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
